Diploma in Teacher Training and Early Childhood Methodology (ECM)

Introduction

The Level 4 Diploma in Teacher Training and Early Childhood Methodology is a teaching qualification which has a teaching/training practice requirement. All learners must have access to 100 hours of teaching.

The objective of the Level 4 Diploma in Teacher Training and Early Childhood Methodology qualification is to give the learner the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills needed to confirm occupational competence. This includes the planning and delivering of schemes of work and sessions, negotiation of individual goals, different teaching and learning strategies, communication issues and exploring a range of assessment practices.

The aim of this qualification is to enable learners:
1. To understand the roles and responsibilities in relation to teaching
2. To understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches within the candidate’s specialist area 3. To plan, deliver and evaluate teaching sessions
4. To understand the use of assessment methods and record-keeping

 

EQUIVALENCES

Level 4 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to Higher National Certificates (HNC) and first semester 1 of a three- year UK Bachelor’s degree programme.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

These qualifications are designed for learners who are typically aged 18 and above. The entry profile for learners is likely to include the following:
• GCE Advanced level in 3 subjects
• Age 18+

• Minimum core of literacy, language, numeracy and ICT

• Do not have a criminal background which might prevent them from working as a teacher with young people or vulnerable adults.

English requirements

If a learner is not from a majority English-speaking country, they must provide evidence of English language competency.

      The module will explore age-appropriate activities, the importance of nutrition, the role of play in physical development, and strategies for creating an inclusive environment that encourages physical activity among young children.
